Our Creator
María del Mar Zambrano Jaramillo was born and raised in Popayan, Colombia. She later moved to Cali, Colombia to pursue her passion in Fashion Design studying at ESMODA. After finishing her degree, she travelled to New York to continue her studies at the FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, where she stayed for three years, emerging herself in fashion.
On her return to Colombia, she created the brand PIMENTA PRET A PORTER that started to have a presence in various stores in the country.
After a great start, she finally opened her own Atelier standing out for her well-structured apparel and her impeccable and fine finishes. Her dresses were created exclusively for weddings, parties and special occasions.
Zambrano’s fashion house worked for more than 10 years in Cali, Colombia. Her success led her to international fashion fairs in cities like Ciudad de Guatemala and Miami. She was also called to participate in the most important fashion events in Colombia such as the Bogota Fashion week and Colombia Moda.
With the pandemic over, Maria del Mar added a collection of spectacular tunics, blankets, caftans and flowing dresses to her May backpacks. A proposal that was very successful and will be trending for the spring – summer season of 2023.
The collection that he presents today, La Vie en Rose, is inspired by roses, which will be seen both in the pattern of the fabrics, as well as in the details and accessories on the neck and pieces for the hair. Distinctive touches that highlight the designer’s DNA.
After a few years away from the fashion world, to raise her children and help with the family business, Zambrano has decided to return to the fashion world, her true passion. With the creation of MAY handbags, she bets on an accessory that will bring a new meaning to those who wear it: BEAUTY, ELEGANCE, AND COMFORT.
